Notes

In 1938 Arthur Bowley purchased his first accordian and after giving himself just one week to learn to play it, did just that and played for a dance the following Saturday night. At the age of eleven his daughter, Betty, began to playthe drums and it was about this time that the Marshall Mount Merrymakers were formed and commenced their long association with the old-time dances at Marshall Mount. Their fame quickly spread and they are still in regular demand up and down the coast and the tablelands. Many musicians have been involved in the band over the years, though at the time of recording it consisted only of Arthur and Betty. Here then is the sound these two musicians call their own.
