James Pennington Presents Dark Energy - Collided Energy download free

I don't see a problem with the mastering but then again I'm no expert. It's worth noting that this stuff was probably recorded fairly primitively to begin with and if you like this sort of thing you know what you are getting into.Anyway, many of the tracks collected here are old and previously released. However, most of them have not been released on CD before so it's nice to have them in one package like this. Dark Energy is the same guy behind the Suburban Knight records, and the sound is pretty much the same. Repetitive, very dark, old-school Detroit techno. The sound is simplistic but it has a sinister feel that very few other techno producers can capture. This is an excellent collection, but with so many tracks spread over 2xCDs it can be a bit taxing to listen to at times. Some of these tracks would actually work better in the context of a DJ mix instead of unedited on a CD. If you've never heard Suburban Knight before, check out the "My Sol Dark Direction" album on Peacefrog, or his "Nocturbulous Behavior - The Mix" CD on Submerge first. I think both of those are more essential than this release, but you'll probably want to get this eventually too.Note that the current American version of this release is actually a professional pressed CDR set instead of actual CDs. If you want actual CDs, you'll need to buy the French or Japanese versions.
